Percent Unit Test - Friday (Regular Math)
Here are links to practice problems for our test tomorrow:
Moving Straight Ahead Test - Friday (Honors)
Here is a good practice problem from p.13 of the book that should help you prepare for the test this Friday.
Here is the answer key. Try the problem first and then check your answers here:

Honors HW
Tonight Honors students should be completing a graph and seven questions about some data we collected in class involving M&Ms. Students were working in groups and only had one copy of the data among them. I instructed them to take a picture of the data, but if your student forgot they should be able to recreate the data from the scenarios below and graph it.
I also included the seven questions they have to answer. It's important that this gets finished tonight, because we will start a discussion on it tomorrow.

Ratios and Proportions Test Tuesday (Regular Math)
On Tuesday (11/8) students will take the summative test on our Ratios and Proportions unit. This will cover rate problems like the ones below.
Rate Problems - https://www.khanacademy.org/math/pre-algebra/pre-algebra-ratios-rates/pre-algebra-ratio-word-problems/e/ratio_word_problems
More Advance Rate Problems - https://www.khanacademy.org/math/pre-algebra/pre-algebra-ratios-rates/pre-algebra-rates/e/rate_problems_0.5
Students will also need to solve problems with similar figures like the one below.
A more complex example is shown here.

Students will also need to solve problems with similar figures like the one below.
What is the length of x?
A more complex example is shown here.
Find the length of a and b?
Both of these skills are essentials for the quarter. Students should expect to see other topics on their summative in addition to these, but this should help with studying.

Test Wednesday (Honors)
This Wednesday we have our first test in honors. Tomorrow we will study and review using the KhanAcademy app. It's free and they have a website (khanacademy.org) that has a lot of good practice for our geometry unit. Here are the different things we will review in class tomorrow. This would be great practice for home too! E-mail me know if you have any questions.

Ratios and Proportions Test (Honors)
Our test on Friday will cover all parts of all 3 of the books we have worked out of so far this year. Here is a link to some practice on Khan Academy with Rates and Proportions. Focus on the Rate Problems and Writing and Solving Proportions. Remember there is Math Tutoring on Thursdays in Ms. Henderson's room!

Adding and Subtracting Integers Summative (Regular)
Our first summative is coming up this Friday on adding and subtracting negative numbers. Here is a great link with lots of practice problems and videos. The first two sections on Intro to Adding and Intro to subtraction are probably the most helpful.

Moving Straight Ahead
Below is a copy of the review problem I gave students in class:
MSA Summative 2
Review
Jake and Sally both make breadsticks at the Hot Tomato. They are very competitive, and whoever makes
more breadsticks by the end of the night gets a $50 bonus. Use the problems below to find out who will
make more breadsticks and win the bonus.
1.
Sally times herself and she makes 48 breadsticks
in 6 minutes.
a.
What is Sally’s unit rate per minute?
b.
Make a table to show the relationship between
minutes and breadsticks for Sally.
c.
Make a graph to show the relationship between
minutes and breadsticks for Sally.
d.
Write an equation to represent Sally’s
breadsticks per minute.
e.
How is the unit rate shown in the table, graph,
and equation?
f.
What is the third coordinate pair on your
graph? What does each number in the
coordinate pair represent?
2.
Jake times himself and he makes 30 breadsticks
in 5 minutes, but he goes into work early and makes an extra 50 breadsticks to
give himself a head start. Answer
questions a-f for Jake instead of Sally.
3.
After how many minutes do both Sally and Jake have
the same amount of breadsticks?
4.
When is the latest they could stop working for
Jake to still win?
5.
What is the earliest they could stop working for
Sally to win?
Here is the answer key to the problem:
